Poem: Twitter sonnet #1

I essayed a small literary experiment today, composing a sonnet that would fit the old character limit of a tweet – 140 characters.

I forgot or did not realise till I tweeted the experiment just now that twitter has expanded its character limit to 280 characters. It gave me spare space for a few punctuation marks, and the invention of an untrending hashtag #twittersonnet.

It seems a better way to use this medium than all the poisonous opinion on events we barely understand.

Here is the poem,

Twitter sonnet #1

Language is
Breaking down
One flaw
At a time.

Culture was
A memory,
Once, if only
To a few

Who cared.
In darkness
Now they
Burn.

In the ash
Find the flame.
